Our Giant Farmhouse Table

Welcome to our sunroom! This beautiful space is the reason we decided to forgo using the original formal dining room as our dining room? Plus, that space is much better suited as the cozy common area we transformed it into. Miss that blog post? You can check out the before and after of that space as well as all of the decor deets here.

Now, back to the sunroom. This is one of my absolute favorite spaces in our home. The natural light and view are so serene. Not only that but the space is easily large enough for our extra large farmhouse table and a cozy seating area as well.

But today's post is focused on the giant farmhouse table in this light and bright space. You won't find this table in any store because it was custom made for us by one of our friends. I never thought that a I would want a table like this but since having it, I can't imagine having any other pieces of furniture occupy this space.

Two years ago we were asked to lead a small group at our church, City Church Griffin. Of course our group focused on the sustenance of Christ centered married couples. We started out with about 3 couples which worked ok for our previous eight seater table. But as our group grew we quickly realized that we need more space. The group was such a blessing that one of our members offered to build us this beautiful farmhouse table from scratch. After just two weeks of work it arrived even better than we could have imagined. The table was so big that it's assembly had to be finished on site! It took three grown men to move this beauty and get her in place.

That guy behind the table in the picture above making sure everything is just right is the talented builder of this beauty. He built the table as well as the long farmhouse bench. The other chairs are from our previous dining set. He and his wife are in the process of starting a business dedicated to constructing gorgeous pieces of furniture like this. Once they're fully up and running I'll be sure to share their information.

As for decor I've kept it pretty simple. Two flat black spray painted vases filled with natural dried flower pampas grass that you can find here. My family photo collage opposite the wall of windows is fun to look at but is definitely still coming a long. I may add just a few additions to this space or, maybe not. Who knows!

What I do know is that since being gifted with this table it gets used quite a bit! We can easily seat 14+ people around it. That's a lot of memories with a lot of people. Not to mention my solo work days that are often interrupted by Baby Zekeyus. I don't mind it so much. His sweet face makes the view even better.

Needless to say, we are definitely beyond grateful for this perfect addition to our mansion fixer upper.
