Welcome to all the deets about all the things in Zakai's new Modern Super Hero Bedroom!
Excited to finally be sharing all of the details on Zakai's bedroom refresh. My baby turned 5 on September 29th and decided that he wanted to level up his bedroom from cars and trucks to super heroes and, it was a huge success.
In addition to the super hero theme, I knew that I wanted there to be some modern elements to the room so that it flowed with the rest of the main level of our house. So, I set out to determine exactly how to do that. Here's how it all came together.
Let's start with paint! An accent wall was definitely going to be in play. The Incredible Hulk is Zakai's absolute favorite super hero. Obviously because he's the biggest and strongest just like Kai! The Hulk is why green is his favorite color and so, I decided on green. The shade of green I went with is called Springview Green by Behr paint. It's a showstopper!
The other paint color I used was for his bedroom and closet doors. To bring in another modern element I went with black by Behr (literally, this is the paint color name). It turned out beautifully, I think. You can definitely expect to see more black doors throughout the main level coming soon.
While we're talking about accents, let's talk about this accent rug I decided on. This is the Unique Loom Sofia Traditional Area Rug in black. It brought in another great touch of modern. It's a 4x6 and is everything!
At the top of the rug is Kai's new sitting/gaming area. This is where his bed used to be. By switching things up a bit I was able to give him designated space to play his playstation rather than sitting on his bed! The Big Joe Chairs are my favorite. We also have these in the Kid Cave and their bomb!
The pillow inserts are 18x18 and are the perfect chop pillow. And, the pillow cases which are a beautiful green really pop off of the Big Joe chairs..
I'm going to talk more about wall art in a bit but I wanted to mention this one wall decal! In order to keep the room simple and modern I decided on just one decal and this Hulk decal was the perfect one.
The red storage bins you see spread throughout the room are used to store Kai's toys. They are super cute and add another super hero color pop to the space.
I didn't do anything special for his bed. I got a simple but soft black and grey reversible comforter and a statement hulk pillow case.
Now, let's talk about wall art! When you first walk in the room you'll see Kai's name in wooden letters that I spray painted black. I found these letters at Walmart.
The "A Super Hero Sleeps Here" sign is incredibly appropriate and is from Hobby Lobby.
And finally his main feature wall art! These black and white super hero art pieces on canvas are the result of a DIY project I did. I'm so pleased with how they turned out. Here's a quick time-lapse video of the process.
